Raptor Grip 870

The Remington 870 grip / Raptor Grip designed by Shockwave Technologies is MADE IN AMERICA. With its enhanced texture, you gain a great hold on your weapon. Its glass-filled polymer construction is virtually indestructible.

This is a new style of bird’s head grip (aka birdshead grip aka witness protection grip aka chicken head grip aka border patrol grip aka entry-style grip aka bad ass grip) developed and manufactured by Shockwave Technologies, LLC in the U.S.A.

The Raptor Grip is molded of a super-tough glass-filled polymer and fits:

  • Remington 870 12-gauge firearms
  • New England Firearms (NEF) Pardner Pump Protector 12-gauge
  • Harrington & Richardson (H&R) Pardner Pump Protector 12-gauge
  • Interstate Arms Corp (IAC) Hawk Model 98 12-gauge
  • Interstate Arms Corp (IAC) Hawk Model 982 12-gauge
  • Interstate Arms Corp (IAC) Hawk Model 981R 12-gauge

Unique angle of the Raptor Grip minimizes felt recoil, allowing maximum control shot after shot. It also just looks badass. Order yours today. Yes, mounting hardware is included. (Requires a 3/16” hex wrench for installation, which is not included.)

Firearm is not included.

*Note that a pistol-grip-only Remington 870 firearm with a 14” barrel and the Raptor Grip installed measures 26.5” in overall length (measured parallel to the bore). The grip itself adds 5.5” to the length of the weapon (measured parallel to the bore).

Of course, the Raptor grip also fits 12-gauges with 18.5”, 20”, and longer barrels.

*Note that there is no predefined hole for a sling swivel stud on the Raptor Grip. This allows you to put your sling swivel wherever you want it on the grip—not just where we think it should go. Just drill a 1/8” pilot hole, and thread in your sling swivel stud.

Hi Jay,

Thank you for your comment. They only fit the 12-gauge. There is an adapter from Mesa Tactical that will allow you to adapt our R870 to fit a 20 gauge gun. I think it runs about $25

Does anybody know if they make an adapter to fit the Mossberg 590 grip/stock to the 870? I’m patiently waiting for the 870 Raptor grip to be offered in FDE like they do the 590.. Magpul already makes their 870 forends in FDE, and a few other colors.. ?

Hi Nick,

We hope to offer the other colors in both grips soon.

Thanks for your interest!

The stocks for the 1100 and 870 are not designed to be interchangeable. The 1100 is attached to the shotgun by a nut that screws on the back of the action spring tube. The 870 is attached to the shotgun by a bolt that screws into the receiver.

Two things:
1. I’d really like to mount a sling swivel on the raptor grip but can’t find anything that I can use in the existing grip. Is you grip solid so I can drill and glue an insert into?

2. Any chance you’ll incorporate finger grooves?

Hi Mitchell,

There is no predefined hole for a sling swivel stud on the Raptor Grip. This allows you to put your sling swivel wherever you want it on the grip—not just where we think it should go. Just drill a 1/8” pilot hole, and thread in your sling swivel stud.

We do sell a grip with a QD cup installed if that interests you: https://shockwavetechnologies.com/sitelatest/product/raptor-grip-870-qd/

No finger groves, sorry.

Hi ,
I have a Remington “Sportsman 12 pump magnum” I’m led to believe it’s the same as an 870 . Do you know if this will fit ? I have had varying responses on the net and from Canadian dealers .

Thanks ,

Hi Doug,

So sorry but we only make them in black for now. Will have FDE, OD Green and Gray in the future.

We do not ship internationally but some of our dealers do. Please feel free to email us directly and we will send you the contact information.

Will your grips for the 870 fit the ATI MB3-R Pump Action Shotgun? The ATI is practically a clone of the Remington 870. Also, what is the difference between the standard grip and the QD grip aside from the price? Thanks.

Hi George,
It only fits firearms with an 870 receiver.
This grip is the standard with no QD cup installed on the side. The other has a QD cup installed on the left side of the grip.

If I used a Dremel tool and contoured the grip down a bit and made finger grooves, would it compromise the overall integrity of the grip? Just wondering.

Hi Tom,

It is solid and a lot of people stipple them so I don’t think that will be a problem.

Hi William,

Remington made their own adapter for the Tac 13. We do not have them.

Hi Dustin,
Looks like your email adress was put in wrong or being blocked. We have your order confirmed and it shipped today.

Thank you,
Team Shockwave

No, our grip comes on the Remington V3 Tac 13 already. Remington developed an adapter for it.

I recently ordered a Raptor Grip for the 870. When I placed my order, it didn’t give an average shipping time. How quickly do they normally get shipped? It’s only been a couple of days, I’m just anxious!

Pls make a Raptor grip/brace adaptor w/tube/5 pos brace for my Tac 13 and similar “firearms”, for ppl like me that like a std Rem shotgun or birds head horizontal grip, rather than a vertical pistol grip/ brace adaptor, like SB Tactical’s. The tube could countersink into the grip up to the blade, to keep the OAL of the brace from being too long. The SW blade could be wider, like the Tippman, to handle 12ga recoil.

Hi, does this fit a Bentley model 30 12 gauge pump action? If it does not can you suggest a combination with this style grip and forearm. Thanks

Hi John,

No, sorry. It only fits those firearms listed. We don’t have one for Bentley.
