How You Can Help Shockwave Defeat Alex Bosco’s Lawsuit

Hello. My name is Marty Ewer. I am a 47-year-old husband and father of two. I am also a veteran of the United States Air Force (Russian Cryptologic Linguist, Northern Japan, 1985–1990).

Today, I am the owner of a small business—Shockwave Technologies. I design, engineer, market, and sell niche firearm accessories. A few of these are the Raptor Grip for the Mossberg 500; the Raptor Grip for the Remington 870; and the ZMAG 30-round and 50-round magazines for the SWD M-11/NINE pistols, carbines, and SMGs.

Last year, I designed a new product called the Blade pistol stabilizer. I was inspired to develop the Blade after purchasing a competing product to see if it helped with marksmanship. It did—kind of. However, I was very put off by that product’s rubber cuff. I thought it was incredibly uncomfortable—and I wasn’t able to line up the sights properly. I also thought that product was heavy and bulky. As a long-time firearms product inventor, I knew I could come up with something better. And from customer feedback to date, I believe I did. “A better mousetrap,” as they say.

You can read more about the Blade pistol stabilizer here:

To ensure that my design was free and clear of any patent entanglements, I did my due diligence, hiring a patent attorney to review my device against everything else out there. After exhaustive research, my attorney wrote a Freedom to Operate letter on July 30, 2014, stating that my device did not infringe on any utility patents or design patents on record, including those of Alessandro “Alex” Bosco. With specific regard to Bosco’s design patent D706,896 for the SigTac SB-15, my attorney wrote: “[This is] not germane to your invention.”

I launched the Blade in early March of this year (2015). Much to my surprise—and that of everybody I’ve told this story to—NST Global LLC (aka SB Tactical aka Alessandro Bosco aka Alex Bosco aka Grant Shaw) filed a lawsuit against my company within just two months of the Blade hitting the market. Their claim? That I am infringing on Bosco’s cosmetic design patent, D706,896. Yes, the very same patent that my attorney wrote wasn’t even germane to discussions about the Blade. Looking at the pictures below, the two products couldn’t look more dissimilar in my opinion. (First two pictures courtesy of AR15news.com.)

There doesn’t seem to be a single merit to SB Tactical’s lawsuit. But it will be expensive to defend ourselves against these two guys. On the order of $500,000. That’s where we could use your help with a purchase or even a small donation. Every dollar helps.

Bosco and Shaw have stated (through their attorney, of course) that to resolve this lawsuit, they want me to stop selling the Blade. I obviously won’t do that. My blood, sweat, and tears are invested in my product. It is my original invention. I have my own patent pending for the Blade. And I’ve never been one to back down from a fight. The Blade doesn’t infringe on any of Bosco’s patents. It’s as simple as that. Besides, competition is good. As we all know, America was built on competition. Fair competition.

If you would like to help us defend ourselves against this apparently frivolous lawsuit, please make a small donation to our legal war chest. Or, buy one or more of our products. Everything we sell is designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. to the highest standards. And we strive to provide the best customer service in the industry.

Please spread this news as far and wide as you can. If you have an “in” with an online firearms news channel, please distribute this story to them.

Thank you and God Bless,
Marty Ewer

NRA Negotiating Away Our Civil Rights—IN SECRET!

I first learned of the back-room deal that is currently in the works between NRA heads and Congresspersons to get the ATF out of a tight spot on the classification of PGO firearms from David Codrea’s excellent article on the subject. (Note that the first link in his story links to Shockwave Technologies’ website.)

The “deal,” as I understand it is that Congress will “tweak” the law in order to get ATF out of this situation (and screw gun owners, no doubt) if the gun-grabbers in Congress can have a ban on tracer ammunition. And apparently, instead of perhaps, oh, I don’t know, asking the people who they represent (us), Congress is allowing the NRA to speak on our behalf, negotiating away our Civil Rights without our consent. What’s been termed a “compromise” in this “deal” means that we gun owners will lose something when it comes to PGO firearms—and the ability to purchase, own, and use tracer ammunition. I swear, every time I hear the word “compromise” when it comes to gun-grabbing, we gun owners always lose something—and never gain anything. I’m not sure that gun-grabbers even know what the word “compromise” means. (In my vernacular, a compromise would be: “Sure, you assholes in Congress can have tracer ammunition, but we the people get back machineguns.” Now THAT’S a compromise!)

Because the subject directly affects our business (regarding the Raptor Grip line), I wrote David Codrea to ask him if he knew anything more about what “tweaks” to the law the NRA and Congress are working on in secret. He responded very quickly. (David, again, I really appreciate the quick reply.) Being the upstanding journalist he is, he wouldn’t reveal anything more to me than was in the article because it might compromise his sources. He did, however, forward my email address to one of his sources, who wrote me later that same night.

Now, I doubt that that source wants his name out there at the moment, so I won’t reveal his name. (And if you contact me, I won’t tell you.) But he did direct me to several pieces of information that are currently available online about this PGO “issue.” Here are a few of them:

Now why do I believe Mike V. that Chris C. is lying? Because I was right in the middle of negotiating a deal with Mossberg for a bulk purchase of 14″ front ends for 500/590 guns. I was working with Joe Zakher (jzakher@maverickarms.com), whom I had met at the SHOT Show earlier this year. His last email to me was dated March 26th—and then pure silence. To this day, I still can’t raise him by email or phone. And I have heard from numerous customers that as of April 1st, Mossberg’s new “internal policy” is to no longer sell legal products (14″ front ends) to law-abiding citizens.

Something is up. And the silence from the NRA, Congress, ATF, and Mossberg is deafening.

Marty

Press Release: KAK and Shockwave Team Up to Create a Superior Pistol Stabilizing System

Oxnard, CA (April 6, 2015)—KAK Industry, a leader in firearms component manufacturing, announces that is has secured the exclusive distribution rights to Shockwave Technologies’ line of Blade pistol stabilizers.

KAK also reveals that it has developed a custom buffer tube for the Blade. The class 3 hard-anodized tube features 12 length-adjustment settings. Its anti-rotation and anti-thrust design mean that the Blade stays put without sliding forward or spinning. The tube is flush with rear of Blade when it’s installed fully forward. When installed fully out, the assembly is incredibly rigid. Being of the castle nut design, the KAK Shockwave tube accepts all carbine buffer systems, mil-spec receiver endplates, and aftermarket endplates.

Kurt Kosman, president of KAK Industry, remarked, “Our two innovative companies have combined efforts to bring a higher-quality, easier-to-use, more-affordable pistol stabilizing system to the market.”

“Teaming up with KAK Industry is a smart step for our small company,” stated Marty Ewer, owner of Shockwave. “We have a product that is an immediate hit with anybody who sees it. KAK is well-respected in the industry for its quality products and excellent customer service. And they have the resources to really catapult the Blade into the industry spotlight—pairing it with their KAK Shockwave tube and getting the system in front of virtually everybody through its rapidly expanding dealer network.”

KAK Industry will retail Blade pistol stabilizers, KAK Shockwave tubes, and package deals online as well as provide wholesale pricing to Web-based resellers and brick-and-mortar shops. Dealers interested in retailing the Blade and KAK Shockwave tube should contact KAK Industry through their website (www.kakindustry.com) or by phone at 805-981-4734. Shockwave will also retail Blade pistol stabilizers, KAK Shockwave tubes, and kits through its website and other Internet channels.

“Our goal is to make the Blade pistol stabilizer and KAK Shockwave tube 2015’s must-have accessories,” added Kosman.

For more information, contact KAK Industry at 805-981-4734 or Shockwave Technologies at 801-815-5178.
