I was inspired to develop the Blade AR pistol stabilizer after purchasing a competitive product, which was introduced to the market a couple of years ago. Like many, I am a military veteran with limited use of my preferred firing hand (my right hand). Also like many, I am very fond of the AR-15 pistol platform. However, with limited use of my right hand, I find it difficult to accurately shoot such pistols.
I purchased the competitor’s product to see if it helped with marksmanship. It did—somewhat. However, I was very put off by the product’s hard rubber cuff. It was incredibly uncomfortable. As a long-time firearms product inventor, I knew we could come up with something better. And I believe we have.
The patent-pending Blade AR pistol stabilizer incorporates a flexible stabilizing “fin,” which the user rests against the inside of their forearm when in the firing position. This stabilizes the firearm in the horizontal plane. The friction created between the user’s forearm and the fin stabilizes the firearm in the vertical plane. This provides the shooter with additional support of a firearm while it is still held and operated with one hand—without the discomfort of the competitor’s product.
Further, if a user wishes, they can wrap a standard sling around the Blade AR and their forearm and secure it with the thumb of their firing hand to further stabilize their firearm in both the horizontal and vertical planes.
Unlike the competitor’s product, the Blade AR weighs a scant 5 oz.
Like the competitor’s product, the Blade AR pistol stabilizer is neither designed nor intended to enable a user to fire a weapon from the shoulder. (And that’s what the ATF actually cares about for classification.) For one, the Blade AR pistol stabilizer has no buttplate or provisions for attaching a buttplate. In fact, its lateral cross-sectional area is less than half that of the competitor’s product.
Pending ATF classification, our goal is to begin selling the Shockwave Blade AR in March 2015.

What I meant to say was:
Brilliant idea! Beautiful design. Kudos to your team.
interesting product – I like it! I hope it passes the atf sniff test!
Please put me on your mailing list. I am anxious to hear of your approval.
Can it adapt to a H&K 416 Pistol? If so please give details and notify me when and where available.
Yes, I’m sure it can. As long as the receiver extension (buffer tube) is 1.25″ O.D., it should fit just fine.
Thank you,
Marty
Assuming this passes, will the retail price be able to compete with the competitors price? Still able-bodied enough to do without, considering the price tag…..
We are aiming to price the Blade AR at approximately $54. That’s about half the price of the competitor’s nearly 1-lb offering.
Thank you,
Marty
Lets face it, pistol arm braces are stupid PERIOD. I’ll admit though, I have one on my ar pistol, but I’m also waiting on a form 1. Looks neat. I hope the price is better than the competitor, being whats look like a piece of plastic.

Thank you for the kind words.
Marty
Info me too.
Hello Ed,
Please send an email to shockwavetechnologies@gmail.com to be put on the waiting list.
Thank you,
Marty
Will the brace have to but up against the receiver/plate or can it be used with the tubes that provide a spacer or extension area to push out the brace a little farther for us with much longer arms?
We have redesigned the mounting and aesthetics of the Blade AR. You will be able to position it wherever you like on your pistol buffer tube.
Thank you,
Marty
Here… Take my $$$.
I want one NOW ! ! ! Please. =)
I’ll gladly review.

Will this work with the KAK industries super SB-15 buffer tube?
Add me to your emailing list I will be glad to purchase one once they are produced and ATF approved!
I don’t have a KAK super buffer tube to check. But I don’t think so. I have heard that the SB-15-specific tubes are smaller in diameter than standard pistol buffer tubes, as SIG made the SB-15 mounting hole too small for standard pistol buffer tubes.
Any updates on approval?

Hey Marty, have you thought about adding a couple of built-in areas on the upper or lower sides of the pistol stabilizer to slide Velcro straps through? You could then use the offside hand to tighten the straps for a secure fit.
Hi Craig,
We have thought about it, but have ruled it out to date. If one wants to add a velco strap, they can certainly do so.
Thank you,
Marty
Can’t wait to try this, please add me to ther list.
Thank you!
Will do.
Thank you,
Marty
Will this work for left handed shooters?
Yes, it is fully ambidextrous.

Hi Ed,
We are now shipping. Order online or give us a call at 801-815-5178.
Thank you,
Marty
I received mine earlier this week and used it for the first time today. It performed better than expected. Thanks for a fantastic product.
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you like the Blade. 99.9% of people do. There’s always going to be that 0.1%. LOL
What about shooting the Shaockwave Blade from the cheek? Do you have clarification from the ATF on that? It is a brilliant product, I am very impressed with it so far.

The blade brace is awesome. The only thing I would suggest and you guys more than likely tried it would be instead of the pointed set screw could you use a rubber pad that would not cut into the buffer tube? I’m amazed at how well it works. The line of sight is awesome.
Hello Jason,
Thank you for your kind words. The pointed set screw is a necessary “evil.” 😉 And yes, the ability to use your sights was one of the main driving forces behind the Blade.
Thank you again,
Marty
Couldn’t a nylon tip set screw be used to lock in place without damage to the buffer tube? I use them on my reloading dies and they work like a charm for that duty.
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for writing. In our testing, the nylon-tipped set screws didn’t hold well enough.
Thank you again,
Marty
Hey Guys,
I hope you make these in OD Green cause that’s the only reason I’m not buying one right now.
Hi Robert,
We just introduced OD Green yesterday. 🙂 Working on getting them on our site right now.
Thank you,
Marty
YESSSS! Thank you sir. 🙂
would like to know if you intend to make this for the ak pistol market as well
Seem to have misplaced my letter clarifying that the brace is… well a brace and not a stock. How can I re-obtain a copy??
Hello Josh,
You can find, download, and print the ATF approval letter here: http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/?p=2114
Thank you,
Marty
Hello Marty, I ordered in the past on one of your products, and I enjoy having and using it….can you invent a product “like” the Raptor grip (solid form), but in a way use it as a balancer/stabilizer at the back of trunion of the M92 Pistol AK. Because of its balance 50% receiver weight and 50% and 50% on rear trunion balancer (solid weight ball), the trigger is the pivot balance point. Just wondering.
Matt
I second this notion as i would like to outfit a draco pistol
Hello. I was wondering how well or if this works well with the Midwest Industries Receiver Extension Sig Brace Pistol Buffer Tube? Thanks.
Hello Joshua,
Thank you for writing. The Blade will fit that tube, though tubes for the SB15 tend to be smaller in outside diameter than the standard of 1.25″. The Blade is designed for a 1.25″ O.D. tube, such as the KAK Shockwave tube with dimples.
Thank you again,
Marty
Will the buffer tube assembly be available on your website again sometime soon?
We will have them available again toward the end of this week. Thank you, Marty
Will this blade fit on a Vltor A5 pistol buffer tube?
From what I know of the Vltor A5, it is undersized in O.D. to fit a competitor’s product. You won’t be 100% happy combining the A5 with the Blade. My best suggestion is to just get the $20 KAK Shockwave tube. All problems solved. Thank you, Marty
Do you have any plans to make the Shockwave Blade for the Kel Tec PLR 16 pistol.
I bought it from you a while back for my CZ Scorpion EVO. Can’t say enough good about it.
Buck
Thank you for the kind words, Buck. We are working on an adapter for the Kel Tec pistols. Look for it later this year.
Please advise when the brace is available. Have been looking forever for one to put on my PLR-16. Peace, out.
They are all available here: https://shockwavetechnologies.com/product-category/blades-for-ar-15/
